Business & Finance Program
Program Description:
This program focuses on the financial organization of businesses and increasing students skills to be able to excel in any organization with a focus on accounting and fiscal management. Students will leave the program with a solid and effective plan to enter post-secondary education and/or employment. The program relies on a great deal of individual and group projects. Students will engage in coursework and work experiences (in school and area businesses) related to accounting, effective business practices, skills needed to communicate effectively.
Course Objectives: At the completion of this course students will demonstrate a working knowledge of business practices including:
- Accounting & Personal Finance
- Electronic and manual finance using Quicken and Excel
- Financial Theory
- Banking – skills, careers, processes
- Theory and practices relative to the insurance field and practices,
- Theory and practice of Personal and Business Tax
- Explore Career Options leading to the development of a individual career & secondary education plan
- An understanding and increasing your strengths and skills related to getting ahead – managing up
- Effective Business communication (written, personal communication, telephone, electronic).
- Effective Business presentation
- Organizing business operations & events
- Teamwork
- Excellent Customer Service & Public Relations
