Program Description:

 

Technical Health Careers is a program of study that affords students interested in the field of healthcare the time and opportunity to explore and examine the varied careers associated with the healthcare industry.  Students participating in this program will be provided with the information necessary to make an informed selection of a health care career path, which will incorporate the student’s: learning style, academic strengths, skills, and interests.  Clinical/Internship experiences and the individualized curriculum will emphasize fundamental health care principles, advanced skill development and the scientific/medical knowledge base required to obtain entry-level health related employment and/or enter a health related education program at the post-secondary level.

 

The anchor course for Technical Health Careers Program is the Licensed Nursing Assistant Course and the opportunity to earn an industry –recognized certificate as an LNA. Two other courses of study are evolving through Technical Health Careers Program: Veterinary Technology and Emergency Medical Technology.

 

Students interested in returning for a second year in the program will have the opportunity to enhance their knowledge and skills through advanced clinical and classroom instruction and cooperative education placement.
